This web site has been created in memory of my brother, John Chiko
May 12, 1959 - Nov. 15, 1995.
John was a energizing leader, a great academic and an inspiration to everyone who knew him. His ambition, eclectic interests and wide-ranging curiousity provided furtile ground for the growth of his quick wit and humorous annecdotes. Bob Kloess, a friend of John's, captured John's outlook on life quite well in the following quote read at his funeral. I hope it will inspire you help in our fight against this horrible disease; we must end the suffering through better treatment, not death.
"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take up ranks with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, for they live in that grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat"
- Theodore Roosevelt.
