This blog has been created as a sort of bulletin board to let you know of recent additions and changes to the web site, and to have a look into some of the things were planning to work on (that we'd appreciate volunteers to help with).
First of all - a quick look at what we've been doing recently - and then a look at what were're planning.
We've recently updated the "Advanced Biology" section of the web site - adding a good presentation on the biology of schizophrenia - with some good images of the biochemistry of the disease. Check it out!
We've recently added some new blogs - the Schizophrenia News blog, My Life's Adventure, A Daughter's Story, Silent Storms (from the wife of someone married to a man with schizophrenia).
We also are working on a number of other new blogs - and these blogs should be up on the site shortly. We'd love to have some more "International" participants in the blogs - to allow us more viewpoints on the treatment approaches and issues in countries other than the US. We'd also love to have some professionals (researchers, psychiatrists, students studying psychiatry/biology of brain disorders, teachers/professors of psychiatry, etc.). Please write us and join in the blogfest!
We've also recently added an entirely new section on the History of Schizophrenia - we think you'll find it interesting.
For future additions to the web site - we're working on getting public domain videos related to different aspects of schizophrenia (research/biology, treatments, success stories, etc.) and converting them into Internet format (Real Audio, Microsoft Media Format, etc.) so that we can put them onto the web site so that anyone can view them directly from their computer.
We need help in finding these videos (typically it involves contacting universities and other nonprofit or government agencies that may have produced these videos) and also in the conversion of them to digital format for the Internet. If you might be able to help in these efforts please send us an email and let us know.
Thanks!
