New Schizophrenia Study Participation Opportunity: Atlanta, Georgia

We recently got the following information from Emory University medical school and the VA Medical Center in Georgia. If you live in the area, we encourage you to check it out. By participating in this type of research, you can help move treatments forward for yourself (you can learn more about your condition from the experts)and you'll make money, and you'll be also helping everyone else who has schizophrenia.

They conveyed in their email: "Dr. Erica Duncan at the Atlanta VA Medical Center and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of the Emory University School of Medicine is conducting a research study about sensory information. We are looking at sensorimotor gating (the ability to filter out sensory information, or information we hear). We are doing this study with people diagnosed with schizophrenia or a schizophrenia-related problem, with family members of participating subjects with schizophrenia, and with people who have no current / past psychiatric, drug, or alcohol problems. This study does not involve medication. The study consists of just one 5-6 hour session and the compensation for each participant is $70. "

Wanted: Participants for Research Study

Are you age 18-80 years old?

Do you have...
* A diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder?
* No Significant Hearing Loss?
* No Current Drug or Alcohol Problems?
* At least one blood relative living in the Atlanta area who would
also be willing to participate?

If so, you may be able to participate in our study at the VA Medical Center.

Participation will take 4-6 hours and may involve:

* Brief Pre-screening Interview and Hearing Screening
* Screening Interviews about Medical & Psychiatric History
* Neuropsychological Testing, Computer and Startle Testing
* Urine Drug Screen
* Blood Draw

Studies do not involve medication.
You must speak English as a first language in order to be eligible.

All eligible subjects will be compensated $70 for completion of the study.
