New Children’s Book

by on August 22, 2014

A positive and educational new book about schizophrenia has been written for children by a mother / daughter team who also have deep personal knowledge about schizophrenia. It sounds like a great way to introduce children to the topic of schizophrenia in a positive way.  We look forward to getting a review copy of the book so that we can provide more information on it.

The authors are Linda and Nneka Onyilofor. Linda is a poet who lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She retired from Milwaukee County Parks in 2007. She has one daughter, Nneka. In 2009, her son Emeka lost his battle with schizophrenia.

Since then, Linda has been active in her community, tutoring children and adults with disabilities, volunteering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and is a member of the National Organization for People of Color Against Suicide (NOPCAS).

Nneka Onyilofor is an educator, writer and mother, residing in St. Paul, MN. Nneka has earned a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and has worked in social service and higher education diversity positions for many years.
